Beaver Paul
Regional Manager: Atlantic
Beaver Paul is a member of the Tobique First Nation, New Brunswick. For the past 20 years, he has held senior management positions within the federal public service, private sector and First Nation governments. Beaver most recently held the position of President & Chief Executive Officer of the Tobique Economic Development Corporation (TEDCO) where he was responsible for the establishment and management of five band-owned companies operating in forestry, fishery, construction, trucking and retailing sectors. Over a period of five years Mr. Paul guided the band-owned enterprises through a period of tremendous growth and expansion. He has extensive experience with establishing management structures within a First Nation government regime. The enterprises now operate over a broad geographical area spanning northern New Brunswick to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
Prior to TEDCO Beaver held a senior manager position with Maritimes and Northeast Pipeline (M&NP), owned by a large multi-national oil and gas company where he was responsible for Aboriginal affairs. During his three year tenure, the M&NP negotiating team successfully negotiated two significant Impact Benefits Agreements with the Chiefs of New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. Mr. Paul has also initiated many economic development initiatives designed to assist First Nation entrepreneurs. Most notably, as the Manager of Corporate Services he successfully coordinated the launching of the economic development corporation for the Listuguj First Nation. The activities of that corporation included forestry, construction, gaming and commercial fisheries operations. While at Listuguj he was also instrumental in developing the governance framework for the Listuguj Mi’gmaq Rangers and its associated Fisheries Law and Mi’gmaq Ranger regulations. Mr. Paul has extensive experience working with the federal government in the areas of membership, housing and consultation.
He currently resides in Fredericton, New Brunswick with his wife, Sandra Germain and has two adult children and six grandchildren.
