Edward Allen
Chief Operating Officer
Edward Allen has over 10 years of Senior Management experience as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nisga’a Tribal Council and the Nisga’a Lisims Government. He has a bachelor degree in Political Science from the University of British Columbia and obtained a LL.B. from Osgoode Hall in Toronto, ON. After completing articles in Vancouver, BC he was admitted to the Law Society of British Columbia in 1993. He is a Nisga’a citizen of the Nisga’a Village of Gingolx and is a member of the Eagle Tribe from the House of Luyaas. He has the Nisga'a name "Nawotk nikinskw Galtsap" which means ‘grizzly bear entering the village’. Given that the Nisga’a successfully negotiated the first modern day treaty in British Columbia, Mr. Allen has considerable knowledge and experience in planning, establishing and administrating the inherent right to self-government. He is well known and respected in British Columbia and in many other regions throughout Canada for his wealth of experience and knowledge in self-government and treaty matters. Edward says he is honored to have this opportunity to share his life’s experiences and knowledge with the National Centre for First Nations Governance.
