NCFNG Youth Think Tank
Sheraton Wall Centre, Vancouver, March 28th-29th
The National Centre for First Nations Governance will be hosting a Youth Think Tank on Friday March 28th until March 29th, 2008. This event will be in follow up to the Youth Think Tank hosted by NCFNG before it was operational in 2004 and will also focus on the future direction of NCFNG Youth/Emerging Leadership engagement in self-governance.
Call for Sponsored Participants: We will be fully sponsoring five Youth from our five regions (Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, Prairies and BC) to travel to BC to participate in this think tank. f you are interested in participating in this exciting event, please respond in one or two paragraphs on the following items by Friday March 14th:
> The significance of First Nations Self- Governance to you and your community/Nation.
> What you could contribute to this Youth Think Tank, and what do you hope to gain/learn from it?
> Which Nation/Region do you come from? Please include your personal information including contact information including email, phone and age.
Send your submission to our Youth Engagement Officer, Brenna Latimer.
Those who are chosen to represent their regions will display an interest in and knowledge of First Nations Governance. Successful representatives will be notified asap.
This event will focus on Emerging Leadership and Youth engagement in First Nations Self-Governance and Nation Rebuilding. The summary report from the first Think Tank in 2004 is available here.
Even if you are not selected as a sponsored delegate, please let us know if you would like to be involved in future Youth and Emerging Leadership initiatives hosted by the National Centre for First Nations Governance by contacting our Youth Engagement Officer. Also, we will be adding a Youth page on NCFNG website in the near future. Watch for it to read about NCFNG’s Youth engagement activities across the country.
