R. v. Badger [1996] 1 SCR 771

The Court reaffirmed the principles of treaty interpretation from Simon v. The Queen and R. v. Sioui (Period 8 above) and decided that the Natural Resources Transfer Agreements (NRTA, 1930) modified but did not replace treaty rights to hunt, trap, and fish. Also, the Sparrow test (Period 8 above) for justifiable infringement of Aboriginal rights also applies to treaty rights in the context of the NRTA.
